Programmes
INSEAD has deep research resources in the areas of startups, buyout/turnaround situations, and corporate entrepreneurship that feed into executive education, both in INSEAD’s public programs and its customer-specific programs. Please contact INSEAD’s executive education staff if you are interested in learning more.
INSEAD’s track record in Entrepreneurship speaks for itself: each year, 80% of MBA graduates express an interest in starting their own business in the near future. About 50% of our MBA alumni do so at some point in their careers. Our alumni are founders, CEOs, or partners of firms such as DoubleClick, Atlas Venture, L’Occitane, ActiveHotels, Nextance, Nomai (company bought by Iomega) and many others. We are in the process of uploading profiles of our entrepreneurs onto this site so you can see what cool stuff our Alumni have been involved in. Soon, it could be you!
The MBA entrepreneurship curriculum now spans 19 electives. You will find a complete list here.
- The entrepreneurship electives are a mix of academic training based on world class research and practical, relevant skills. They are designed for various types of people, including:
- Those with an idea they wish to develop during INSEAD and turn into a venture to launch after their MBA
- Those wishing to find a small or medium company to buy and turn around rather than setting one up
- Those without an idea but actively looking for one to turn into a venture or wishing to prove themselves in order to join an existing high growth company
- Those wanting to build the right skills to do something entrepreneurial later in their career or as part of a corporation or a social venture
- Those wishing to becomes VC or PE investors
The Maag International Centre for Entrepreneurship will be there to guide you through your entrepreneurship elective choices and to provide some support for your ventures, even after you graduate from INSEAD.
We are also actively building up links with technical and design schools, VCs, entrepreneurial companies and individuals to help source entrepreneurial projects for those without their own start-up idea. These projects allow students to explore possible entrepreneurial ventures during their entrepreneurship electives and, in some cases, turn them into real ventures post their MBA.
There are plenty of things for you to get involved in. Do feel free to get in touch with student clubs to find out more. They are a great way to find out what is happening on campus and they would love to hear from you. There are also two student-led conferences jointly organised by the IPEC and the IEC clubs and the Maag Centre for Entrepreneurship. Further details on these can be found here.
We have a well developed mentoring programme for students and alumni. Mentors able to be on campus on regular basis are called Entrepreneurs in Residence. All of them have many years experience as entrepreneurs and investors in a range of industries and are a great source of information, support, and contacts.
